Floating.
This is simply fishing using a float. Pencil floats are like pencils and larger floats are used for either sea fishing or Pike fishing when a heavy bait must be held. The float is a good bite indicator that triggers a visual indication of whether or not you have a hooked fish or not. This is the most widely used method of fishing.
'On The Bottom'
This is a simple way of placing a bait on the bottom of the lake/canal/river and is best used when both long distance casting is wanted and large fish are wanted. Large female pike are to slow to catch most small fast fish and result to scavenging and when they come across a chunky piece of mackerel, they cannot resist!
Spinning
This is a method of fishing that requires a small fake fish that imitates a fish's appearance and movement. Different spinners are required for different species of fish:
Fly Fishing
This is the hardest method of fishing and involves casting a fly onto the water and this attracts a trout and on very rare conditions Pike can be caught. Fly fishing should only be attempted with professional tuition.
One of my own methods that is proven to work is that when you are fishing for Pike, spray your bait (Mackerel for instance) with WD40. This is a strong smell and stays on the bait while in water, and the Pike find this smell interesting. And don't worry, it doesn't harm the water!
